This morning, Mrs. Lisa brought a special surprise to our preschool class ... three of her adorable baby goats! She read “Goatie the BAAAD Goat” by Dean Parrish, a book inspired by the real-life adventures of Lisa and her very own goat, Goatie. The kids loved hearing the story and meeting the sweet little guests! What a fun and memorable visit!

Each month, students can earn a certificate for being a ROARing Tiger by displaying the characteristics in the ROARing Tiger acronym, which stands for: Respect, Optimism, Accountability, and Responsibility. In addition to displaying these characteristics, students must not have any discipline issues or office referrals, and no late work. At the end of each month, students who earned the reward were presented a certificate and a treat. For the month of January, the students earned a popcorn and soda party!![]()

Mr. Foland's 7th grade science class has been working on Energy. Using paper roller coasters, the students demonstrated how potential and kinetic energy are impacted by things such as height, mass, and of course loops and curves. After demonstrating their understanding of these concepts, the students formed groups to create their coasters and then had the entire school vote on their favorites. We had over 100 votes from students and staff. ![]()

The coaster, Cannonball Run, by Aidan, Brynlee, and Chloe won the contest with 40 votes. Their coaster is also shown in the video in the comment section. Good work by everyone!

Our 5th graders have been learning about constellations in science class. Today, they put that learning into action by creating their own constellation viewers! Students used cardboard tubes, paper, rubber bands, paper clips, and flashlights to build their viewers and explore how star patterns can be seen and identified. They are excited to take them home to show their families what they have been learning!

Today our 6th graders put their learning into action using the engineering design process in science class! Each group received a bag with 50 marshmallows and 50 spaghetti noodles and was challenged to solve a problem: build the tallest tower possible without it falling over.![]()

Students followed the steps of the design process as they identified the problem, discussed criteria and constraints, designed a plan, and worked together to build and revise their towers. It was a fun, hands-on way to practice problem solving, teamwork, and creative thinking!
This morning, our elementary students were excited to welcome some special guests! Author Katy Martin and illustrator Season Duncan from the Good Days book series visited to share and read the books in their series. They talked with students about how the idea for the books began and walked them through the writing, illustrating, and publishing process. Thank you, Katy and Season, for spending time with us! Our students absolutely loved it!

They stopped by the Courthouse, Regional Missouri Bank, City Hall, and the Post Office, sharing smiles and holiday spirit everywhere they went.
