What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

In addition to an email being sent to the party specified as recipient for a particular contact form, the information submitted is stored within the database of this website for the purpose of retaining a copy which can be reviewed by Keytesville R-III School District administration and/or staff.  The only information stored is that which is submitted by the form. No other personal information is kept.

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Cookies are also used to collect and retain product information added to our shopping cart. This allows the visitor to purchase multiple items without need to submit payment information multiple times.

We utilize a statistics service called Statcounter to track usage of our website for purposes of determining the value of our content to our visitors.  A small block of javascript code is added to each of our pages which adds a cookie to your computer. Your IP address is collected in order to determine where our visitors are viewing our website from, but no personal information is collected by us or Statcounter. Who we share your data with

As a rule, we do not share any data from our website with any third parties with the exception of law enforcement or government agencies when required by law.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

This data is maintained as long as the website exists or until it is requested by the user to be removed.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Users contact information maybe be stored in their user profile. This information can be edited or removed by the user. The exception to removal of information is the email address. An email address is required for a user of this website.

How we protect your data

Your data is encrypted within the database of this website. There are no files housed on the server which contain any personal or user data. In addition, our website utilizes 256-bit SSL encryption to encrypt any data which passes between our server and third party servers (if any).

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the event of a data breach concerning our website, representatives from the Keytesville R-III School District Information Technology staff and website administrator will determine the severity of the breach and contact affected parties once a full investigation has been completed.

What third parties we receive data from

Our website receives data from Google in order to populate our calendar. We also receive data from Weather.gov to create and display our weather widget.

Our website is built using WordPress so we may receive data from the WordPress.org servers when updates to themes, plugins and the WordPress core are available for download and installation.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

No automated decision making or profiling is performed by our website. We do not tailor content based on information from our users.
