Dear Keytesville Patrons,

As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its proximity to the county, the Keytesville R-III School District has decided to extend our current closure through Friday, April 24th.  Having had numerous conversations with County Health Officials, The Board of Education, and fellow local school administration, we have determined this to be the safest and most responsible course of action.  During that period the District will continue to not be accessible in any form (i.e. telephone, on-site staff, etc.) and NO services will be provided.  As in our current closure, all academic and extracurricular events, club activities, field trips, meetings, etc. will be cancelled or rescheduled for a later date.

We as a District continue to encourage home activities such as Exact-Path to maintain some type of student educational exposure. DUAL-CREDIT students will still be required to complete their coursework under the expectations of their given University.  There are opportunities at this point for student meal services through the OPAA office, located at the Brookfield R-III School District.  It is being communicated with DESE that these days will be forgiven through a District waiver process and as you may have heard, State Testing for the academic year has been suspended.

Class may resume on the morning of Monday, April 27th; with that said a determination will be made prior to that, to see if a return is feasible or school cancelation for the remainder of the year is more responsible.  We will continue to make any and all communication through the school Facebook page and text-caster.

One item of importance are senior scholarship opportunities; seniors wishing to apply for scholarships need to reach out to Mrs. Potter at and discuss options, and submittal procedures.  Also of note are the events surrounding Prom and Graduation.  We feel as though these events are vital to the senior experience and are committed to hosting both.  With that said, the two will be held on back-to-back dates, Prom being Friday, July 10th with Grand March at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria and graduation Saturday, July 11th at 1:00 PM in the gymnasium.  Please note, regardless of whether we return on the 27th or not, this date will not change.

Thank you for your continued support through these unprecedented times.

Novy Foland, Science

It’s a great day to be a Tiger!

My name is Novy Foland and I teach science for 7th through 12th graders. I also coach Junior High and High School girls basketball and scholar bowl.

As the science teacher here at Keytesville, my goal is to inspire students to not only gain an interest in the amazing world of science but to also take the lessons learned in my class and apply them to life.  Our world is constantly changing and science allows us to better understand these changes as we move towards the future.

I studied my undergrad at Central Methodist University where I graduated in 2015 with my major in Biology.  I also obtained my Master’s in Biology from Clemson University in 2019. My wife, Valerie, studied at CMU as well and recently graduated from Mizzou Law.  We enjoy running 5ks together and with our dog, we’ve coached sports together, and in our free time we enjoy going to the movies.
